Creating a Composable Fabric Using FM 1006 Passive
Interconnect Modules
You can create a network of four fabric modules or more by connecting Composable Fabric modules
through FM 1006 passive interconnect modules. Using FM 1006 modules, you can create a network
topology that includes FM 3032Q, FM 2072, and FM 3180 as well as models 2e, 3eq, 2p, 2S and 2sp.
IMPORTANT:
In a mixed configuration, if the fabric contains an FM 2072 or models 1, 2, 2s, 2sp or
2e models that run at 10 Gb/s per port, the FM 3032Q ports must be set to operate at 10/40 Gb/s per port
for compatibility.
FM 1006 Passive Interconnect Module
FM 1006 passive interconnect module is a passive optical component that connects HPE Composable
Fabric modules as a single Composable Fabric.
The FM 1006 contains the following ports:
•
12 MPO24 ports to connect to as many as six fabric modules.
•
MPO24 ports to connect other FM 1006 modules, thereby extending the fabric, connecting many (7
or more) fabric modules.
•
The upper Composable Fabric ports are labeled E1 through E6 and the lower Composable Fabric
ports are labeled W1 through W6. You will connect E1 and W1 to one fabric module, E 2 and W2 to
another fabric module, etc.
•
The upper Expansion ports are labeled EX1 through EX3 and the lower Expansion ports are labeled
WX1 through WX3. You will connect EX1-EX3 ports to the WX1-WX3 ports on the next fabric
module and the WX1-WX3 ports to the EX1-EX3 ports on the previous fabric module.
Cables for FM 1006
FM 1006 modules connect to FM 3180 and other fabric modules through MTP cables that look as
follows:
