SPARK PLUG

Recommended spark plugs: 

NGK-CPR 8 EA9, CHAMPION-RG 6 YC, 

BOSCH-UR5DC

î

Clean any dirt around the spark plug base.

For most riding conditions this spark plug heat 

range number is satisfactory. However, if the 

vehicle is going to be operated for extended 

p e r i o d s   a t   h i g h   s p e e d s   o r   n e a r  

maximum power in hot climates, the spark 

plug should be changed to a cold heat range 

number, consult Authorised 

 

Hero MotoCorp

workshop on this if required.

Disconnect the noise suppressor cap (1) 

and  remove  the  spark  plug  (2)  with  the 

help of spark plug box wrench provided in 

the tool bag.

î

Visually inspect the spark plug electrodes for 

wear.  The  center  electrode  should  have 

square edges and the side electrode should 

not  be  eroded.  Discard  the  spark  plug  if 

there is apparent wear or if the insulator is 

cracked or chipped.

Remove centrifugal filter cover (6) & clean 

the centrifugal filter (7) with non flammable 

or high flash point solvent (kerosene).

Fill  the  crankcase  with  clean  engine  oil 

(page 29)

Reinstall  the  centrifugal  filter  cover,  right 

crankcase cover, rider foot rest, muffler & 

kick starter pedal.

î

Ensure to replace gasket with new one once 

removed

î

Clean filters as specified in the maintenance 

schedule.
