Useful reasons for the function of external ambient temperature: 

1.  Changing ambient conditions may be measured permanently to compensate their effects.  
2.  Decoupling compensated temperature from internal temperature of cooled instruments. 
3.  Measurement of a reflected reference area to improve uncertainty.  

 
To read in external ambient temperature, analog input is adjusted in such a way that a signal 0-10 V is 
analyzed in proportion to temperature range. Value LOW corresponds to 0 V, value HIGH corresponds to 
10 V input signal.
