OPERATION AND APPLICATION
The Infrared Radiation Thermometers Series KT19 II can be adapted to the process by means of parame-
terization. The adaptation is carried out via keyboard or via digital interface.
The following chapter describes the operation via keyboard and communication via interface.
5.1.
Communication via interface
A serial interface allows a user-friendly configuration of the HEITRONICS KT19 II via PC and via provided
software EasyConfig / EasyMeas. Furthermore the instrument may be monitored and series of measure-
ments may be recorded.
5.1.1.
Preparing the instrument for the operation with RS232C interface
The interface signals are available at the 12-pole plug of the Infrared Radiation Thermometer KT19 II.

TXD H 2 3 RXD

DTR A 6 6 DSR

The transfer is controlled by means of hardware handshake (RTS

/CTS

). Some RS232 drivers use DTR

instead of RTS for the handshake. In this case CTS of Infrared Radiation Themometer KT19 II must be
connected to DTR of the computer.
The transfer parameters baud rate, number of data bits, parity, stop bits and delimiter are set by means of
the operating keys at the Infrared Radiation Thermometer KT19 II. These parameters are to be set to equal
values as for the Infrared Radiation Thermometer KT19 II and the computer.
Selectable baud rates:
9.6
kBaud
19.2
kBaud
38.4
kBaud
57.6
kBaud
115.2
kBaud
Possible data formats:
Data bits: 7 or 8
Stop bits: 1 or 2
Parity: even, odd or none
The Infrared Radiation Thermometer KT19 II is able to receive data with one stop bit independent of the
setting. For transmission, the selected number of stop bits is inserted.
1
RTS = Request to send
2
CTS = Clear to send
3
DTR = Data terminal ready
