Cleaning and descaling
The appliance should be cleaned and desca-
led regularly to prevent it from becoming da-
maged and to ensure your coffee has the best
possible flavour.
WARNING
Risk of electric shock!
Water that has seeped inside may cau-
se a short circuit or electrocution.

Never immerse the appliance, mains
cord or plug in water or any other li-
quids.
■
Switch off the appliance and pull the
mains plug out of the socket before
cleaning.
■
Do not put the appliance or individu-
al parts of the appliance in a dishwas-
her.
■
Do not use a steam cleaner to clean
it.
CAUTION
Health hazard!
Failure to clean the appliance can cause
damage to health, as can improper use
of ingredients or cleaners and descaling
agents.

Follow manufacturer instructions on
cleaners and descaling agents.
■
Avoid contact with the descaler.
■
Do not ingest the descaler.
■
Do not mix the descaler with other
cleaning agents and descalers or
other chemicals.
■
Wash your hands after using the de-
scaling agent.
CAUTION
Risk of corrosion!
If water-descaler mixture is poured
in shortly after a brewing operation,
hot steam may escape from the water
spout and cause scalding and burns.

Allow the appliance to cool comple-
tely before cleaning and descaling.
Risk of scalding!
During descaling, hot steam is released,
which can cause burns on unprotected
skin.

Do not leave the lid open during ope-
ration.
■
Do not touch the lid or reach just abo-
ve it during operation.
■
Avoid all contact with hot liquid.
