Fan Failure
You can check the system status LED and the seven-segment LED of an S5500-SI series to determine
whether the fans operate normally. If a fan failure occurs, the two LEDs give an indication, as shown in
Table 6-2
.

Only when the system status LED is steady red and the seven-segment LED is displayed as F does it
indicate a fan failure.
The S5500-SI series switches use fixed fans. If a fixed fan failure occurs, you cannot solve the problem
by yourself. Please contact your sales agent or service engineer.
To ensure the normal operation of the switch, you need to contact the local sales agent or service
engineer as soon as possible when a fixed fan failure occurs.
Configuration System Failure
After the switch is powered on and the system is normal, the booting information will be displayed on the
configuration terminal. If the configuration system has any faults, there will not be any screen display at
the configuration terminal or the displayed characters will be totally illegible.
Troubleshooting when there is no terminal display
If there is no output information after the configuration is powered on, please check whether:
z
The power supply is normal
z
The console cable is properly connected
If no problems are found after the above-mentioned items have been checked, the cause may lie in the
console cable or the settings of the terminal (such as hyper terminal) parameters. Please perform the
corresponding check.
