Check the tooth flank backlash as follows:

Switch off the system and padlock it to secure it against being switched
on again

Insert paper strip of 0.08 mm thickness and width b between drive pinion
and rack
(e.g. DIN A4 80 gsm paper).

Move carriage or axis
(Paper strip is "turned through")

Interpreting the result:
