17 Recording 

programs

17.1 Preparations
17.1.1  Connecting a  storage device

A hard disc as well as a USB stick can be connected to the USB port. The storage 
devices must be formatted to FAT32.

•  Connect the storage device as per chapter 5.3, page 12. 

17.1.2  

Formatting storage devices

In case the storage device to be used does not comply with the required data format, 
you can format this accordingly.

17.2  General to the  recording functions

The technology used for this satellite receiver allows the simultaneous recording of a 
SAT program and playback of a recorded program when an external storage device 
is connected. This procedure is used for the so-called “ Time shift”. Time shift means that 
you can record a program and start to play it from the beginning e.g. delayed in time 
by 30 minutes 

while it is still being recorded

. Another option for using the time shift is 

e.g. the following situation:
You are watching a film and the telephone rings. Now simply switch “Time shift” on 
and continue to watch the film, from the time of the interruption on, after returning. The 
saved programs are stored in the “ 

Video/Video library

” memory.

 

Before commencing a recording it may be necessary to implement the PVR 
setting, chap. 8.2, page 22.

17.2.1  Recording a live program

You wish to record a program that is now showing on TV.

• Press the 

 (red) record button.
