Model G0810 (Mfd. Since 10/15)

-23-

The  spindle  break-in  procedure  distributes  lubri-
cation throughout the bearings to reduce the risk
of early bearing failure if there are any "dry" spots
or areas where lubrication has settled in the bear-
ings.  You

must  complete  this  procedure  before

placing  operational  loads  on  the  spindle  for  the
first  time  when  the  machine  is  new  or  if  it  has
been sitting idle for longer than 6 months.

Always  start  the  spindle  break-in  at  the  lowest
speed  to  minimize  wear  if  there  are  dry  spots.
Allow the spindle to run long enough to warm up
and distribute the bearing grease, then incremen-
tally increase spindle speeds and repeat this pro-
cess at each speed until reaching the maximum
spindle  speed.  Following  the  break-in  procedure
in  this  progressive  manner  helps  minimize  any
potential wear that could occur before lubrication
is fully distributed.

Spindle Break-In

You must complete this procedure to main-

tain the warranty. Failure to do this could

cause rapid wear-and-tear of spindle bear-

ings once they are placed under load.

Inspections &

Adjustments

The following list of adjustments were performed
at the factory before the machine was shipped:

•

Gib Adjustments .............................

Page 44

•

Leadscrew Backlash Adjustments ..

Page 45

Be  aware  that  machine  components  can  shift
during  the  shipping  process.  Pay  careful  atten-
tion to these adjustments during operation of the
machine. If you find that the adjustments are not
set according to the procedures in this manual or
your personal preferences, re-adjust them.

To perform spindle break-in procedure:

1.  Successfully  perform  all  steps  in  Test Run

section beginning on

Page 21.

2.  Configure  V-belts  for  a  spindle  speed  of

150 RPM (refer to

Spindle Speed beginning

on

Page 27 for detailed instructions).

3.  Connect machine to power, turn it ON, and let

it run for 10 minutes.

4.  Turn  machine  OFF,  allow  spindle  to  come

to  a  complete  stop,  then  DISCONNECT
MACHINE FROM POWER!

5.  Repeat  Steps 2–4  for  5  minutes  in  each  of

the following speeds, in this order: 255, 500,
850, 1500, 2300, and 3000 RPM.

Congratulations, the spindle break-in is now
complete!
