SECTION 6: MAINTENANCE
Always disconnect power
to the machine before
performing maintenance.
Failure to do this could
result in serious person-
al injury from unexpected
startup.
For optimum performance from your machine,
follow this maintenance schedule and refer to any
specific instructions given in this section.
Daily:
•
Check/correct loose mounting bolts.
•
Check/correct damaged or dull saw blade.
•
Check/correct worn or damaged wires.
•
Clean/protect table.
•
Clean metal chips from upper and lower
wheel areas, and the chip chute.
•
Clean welding station.
•
Lubricate the air pump (
Page 43).
•
Correct any other unsafe condition.
Twice Monthly:
•
Check for V-belt damage or wear (
Page 46).
•
Lubricate tension leadscrews, guide post
rack, variable speed pulley shaft (
Page 42).
•
Remove the blade and clean the wheels.
Schedule
Use a brush and a shop vacuum to remove chips
and other debris from the machine. Keep the table
rust-free with regular applications of products like
G96
®
Gun Treatment, SLIPIT
®
, or Boeshield
®
T-9
(see
Section 5: Accessories on Page 40).
Once a month, remove the blade and thoroughly
clean all metal chips or built-up grease from the
wheels and wheel areas.
Cleaning
Redressing Rubber
Tires
As the bandsaw ages, the rubber tires on the
wheel may need to be redressed if they become
hardened or glazed over. Redressing the rubber
tires improves blade tracking and reduces vibra-
tion and blade lead.
If the rubber tires become too worn, then blade
tracking will become extremely difficult. At that
point, redressing will no longer be effective, and
the rubber tires must be replaced.
To redress the rubber tires:
1. DISCONNECT BANDSAW FROM POWER!
2. Put on heavy gloves and remove the blade.
3. Use a brush and shop vacuum to clean any
chips from the rubber tires.
4. Use 100-grit sandpaper to remove the hard-
ened surface or glazing. Only redress the
rubber enough to expose a fresh rubber sur-
face.
