Measurement Ranges
A measur ement r ange deter mines th e highest value the Meter c an me asure . Most Mete r fun ctions have more than one
range . Se e “ Accura cy Spe ci fic ations”.
A. Sele cti ng a Meas ur em ent Range
Being in the right measure ment rang e is i mportant:

I f the range is too low for the input, the Mete r displays

to indic ate an overload.
l
I f the range is too high, the Meter will not display the most ac curat e me asure me nt.
B. Manual ra nging a nd a utora nging
The Met er h as both manual rang e and autorange options:
In the autor ange mod e, the Meter selects the best range fo r the input det ected .
In the manual range mod e, you select the rang e. This allows you to override autorang e and lock the Meter in a
speci fic rang e.
The Meter de faults to the autorang e mod e in me asure me nt fun ctions that have more than one rang e. W hen the Meter is
in the auto range mode ,
AU TO
is displayed.
To ente r and e xit the manu al range mode:

.
The Meter enters the manu al range mode and
AUTO
turns o ff. Each pr esses o f
RANG E
incre ments the rang e.
When the highest rang e is reached, the Met er wr aps to the lowest range.
4. To e xit the manual range mod e, press and hold
RANG E
for over 2 s econds .
The Met er returns to the autor ange mod e and
AU TO
is display ed.

I f you manu ally change the measu rement rang e a ft er entering th e REL or Hold modes, the M eter exits these
modes.

Under fr equency/duty cycl e and capacitanc e me asure ment, only autor ange mod e is available.
