Section 3 — Control Surface Description
Main Transition Controls
The transition controls are used to select the signal elements that will be
involved in the transition (background or keys), define the type of transi-
tion, and perform the transition.
Transition Elements
The
Key 1 – 4
and
Bkgd
buttons select the elements that will change during
the next transition. Pressing these buttons does not change the current
output of the M/E, but prepares the M/E for a change (the next transition).
Pressing one transition element button automatically turns off the others in
this group. More than one transition element can be selected by holding
down one button while pressing another in the group. Elements not
selected remain in their current state when the transition is performed. For
example, if
Key 1
is on and is not selected as part of the next transition, it will
remain on during and after the transition.
The
Bkgd
button selects a change in the background buses. The result will
be a transition from the current source on the A (or PGM) bus to the source
selected on the B (or PST) bus. After the transition, the buses will flip flop,
so the A bus always remains the on-air bus. The A bus selection remains the
background source if this button is not selected as part of the next transi-
tion.
The
Key 1-4
buttons selects the keyers that will be involved in the next tran-
sition. The keys currently visible on the output that M/E are identified by
the
On
indicator lights below each button. Note that a key may be on but not
visible (for example, half way through a preset black transition).
The
Key Prior
button selects a change in the key priority. The layering order
(stack) of the keys will transition from the current stack to a new stack spec-
ified by the operator. The new key priority stack is defined using the
Key
Prior
button in the Keyers subpanel or via a menu (see
The
Dsk Link
button is present on 3-M/E systems only. It allows one or more
selected downstream keyers to be linked to M/E 1, M/E 2 or M/E 3. When
linked, that downstream keyer will dissolve in or out along with that
M/E’s transition. Starting with Release 4.0 the downstream key link feature
is not saved as part of an E-MEM effect. To use it with effects, activate the
Dsk Link
Main panel button before recalling the effect.
Transition Types
The
Mix
,
Wipe
, and
User Tran
transition type buttons select what type of tran-
sition will be used on the elements selected above for the next transition.
Pressing these buttons does not change the appearance of the current
output of the M/E. Only one transition type can be selected at a time.
The
Mix
button selects a mix as the next transition.
