SINGLE POLE
For lights switched
from
ONE
location.
Single pole connection refers to when 1 light is controlled by 1 switch.
The Traveler (brown) wire is not needed for this scenario.
For retrofit applications.
1.
Remove the existing wall plate and screws from the wall after having
turned off the power at the circuit breaker and tested
the outlet with a voltage tester.
2.
Remove the existing switch from the wall and label the wires
with the appropriate stickers included in the box.
3.
Ensure these wires are available:
a. Line (black
b. Ground (green, or yellow/green
c. Neutral (white) x2
d. Load (red)
4. Disconnect the wiring from the old switch.
5. Connect the WI-FI on/off switch to the existing wiring:
a. Connect Ground (Green, A) wire on the switch to the Ground
(green) wire from the switch box
b. Connect the Line (Black, D) wire on the switch to the Line (Black)
wire from the breaker box
c. Connect the Neutral (White, B) wire on the switch and the Neutral
(white) wire coming from the light to the Neutral (White) wire from
the breaker box
d. Connect the Load (Red, E) wire on the switch to the Load (red)
wire from the light
6.
Ensure the included wire nuts are securely fastened to each wire. The
Traveler (brown, C) wire needs to be covered with a wire nut even if
not in use
7.
Insert the new switch into the wall. Cover with the wall plate and
screws provided.
