Setting up Base Station
Base station can be mounted on a known point or unknown points. (Note: If you want to
use the conversion parameters calculated before, the location of the base station should be
the same with the last site. Open the project built last time, set up the base station, and then
you just need to modify the base station antenna height and make sure the base station is
transmitting differential signals. The rover can work directly without calculating the
conversion parameters.)
The location of base station must meet the following requirements:
Open environment, no large shelter objects above 15 degrees elevation mask angle;
No electromagnetic interference (No microwave stations, radar stations, cell phone
signal stations and etc. within 200 meters, and no high-voltage lines within 50
meters);
Away from terrain and ground objects that reflect electromagnetic signals strongly,
such as high-rise building, water area and so on.
In radio working mode, the base station should be set up at a high place and there
shouldn’t be large shelter objects between base station and rover.
At least two known points (The known point can be coordinates of any coordinate
system. To check the correctness of the known points, three or more known points are
needed.)
The basic operations to set up base station are as follows:
1.
Set up the tripod.
2.
Install the GNSS antenna on the tripod
.
3.
Fix the base station handheld. First fix the tripod handheld bracket on the tripod, then
put the handheld into the bracket; tighten it, as shown below.
