PLATFORM COMPONENTS
2-2
Platform Rotator
The platform rotator is a hydraulically activated
helical gear assembly used to rotate the platform
160 degrees.
How to Remove the
Platform Rotator
Component damage hazard. Mark
the platform mounting weldment
and the rotator flange before
removing the platform mounting
weldment. The platform mounting
weldment must be replaced in the
exact same position on the rotator
flange as it was before removal. If
a new rotator is installed or the
rotator is disassembled, proper
alignment can be achieved by
rotating the rotator all the way to
the left and then installing the
platform mounting weldment all
the way in the left position.
Note: When removing a hose assembly or fitting,
the O-ring on the fitting and/or hose end must be
replaced and then torqued to specification during
installation. Refer to Section Two,
Hydraulic Hose
and Fitting Torque Specifications.
1 Remove the platform and platform support.
S-40 Models:
2 Tag, disconnect and plug the hydraulic hoses
from the platform rotator. Cap the fittings on the
rotator.
Bodily injury hazard. Spraying
hydraulic oil can penetrate and
burn skin. Loosen hydraulic
connections very slowly to allow
the oil pressure to dissipate
gradually. Do not allow oil to squirt
or spray.
S-45 Models:
3 Tag and disconnect the hydraulic hoses from
the "V1" and "V2" ports on the counterbalance
valve manifold located on the platform rotator
and connect them together using a connector.
Cap the fittings on the manifold.
4 Support the platform leveling arms and platform
mounting weldment with an appropriate lifting
device, but do not apply any lifting pressure.
All Models:
5 Remove the six mounting bolts from the
platform mounting weldment. Remove the
center bolt and slide the platform mounting
weldment off of the platform rotator.
Crushing hazard. The platform
mounting weldment could become
unbalanced and fall if it is not
properly supported.
6 Support the platform rotator with an appropriate
lifting device. Do not apply any lifting pressure.
