Diagnostics

The terminal interface SC 553 Diagnostics screen displays three groups of selections that 
correspond to the three types of test: T1, Channel, and DS0. Each group includes a command 
selection for starting its type of test. The screen also has a selection for setting how long tests run, 
and one for specifying the timing source the DSU uses during tests.

When a test begins, the Diagnostics screen shown in 

Figure 3-16

 is replaced by the Diagnostics 

Results screen shown in 

Figure 3-17

. The Results screen permits you to monitor the progress of the 

test procedure while it takes place and displays results at the end of procedures that employ self test.

Instructions for using the screens to perform tests appear in Chapter 4, Tests , together with 
descriptions of the diagnostic functions.
