VOCAL REMOVER
This function is similar to the one found on many karaoke machines, which can be used to reduce and sometimes completely
remove the vocals from a CD track. To remove the vocals from a CD-track you must first convert the track to a WAVE file.
1. Insert an audio CD in the CD drive, press the DISK button and choose CD on the left side of the screen.
2. Select the track you want from the list in the right column and then press GRAB. Press ENTER to confirm.
3. Choose the folder where you want to store the converted track. Press ENTER.
4. If you want to give the track a more descriptive name you can type it now or just leave the name as it is. Press ENTER when
you’re ready.
The song is now being copied from the CD to the Hard Disk. Your CD track has been successfully converted to a WAVE file.
GRAB AN AUDIO CD
Once this conversion process is complete we can select the song in SONG PLAYER in the usual way.
Press SELECT and choose WAVE in the right side of the screen.
Enter folder and highlight the song we just copied.
Press SONG PLAYER/EDIT and choose VOCAL REMOVER.
Press ENTER twice. The process takes a little while to complete, (usually about half as long as the running time of the song).
When the process is complete a proper message is showed in the dispaly
Press ENTER to confirm.
Now you can listen to the results by pressing PLAY.
The original file has been replaced by the processed version. When you want to play it in the future it can be found in exactly
the same place with the same name.
Since a CD track is just a normal stereo recording, it does not have a separate vocal part which can simply be switched off.
The Vocal Remover has to process the file by making certain assumptions about the way the track was recorded. This means
that the success of Vocal Remover will depend entirely on how the track was recorded in the studio. Vocal Remover may work
perfectly on some tracks while it may appear to have almost no effect on others. Vocal Remover works by using a process
called .Cut Center Material.. This process removes anything which is in the center of the stereo image and leaves everything
else unchanged. Typically, vocal tracks are centered in the mix during recording while most other instruments are panned
slightly to the left or right. If a song has been recorded in this way then you will get good results from Vocal Remover. Because
of the way it works, Vocal Remover may cut some other sounds from the track too. Sometimes bass sounds such as bass
guitar and bass drum are also placed in the center of the mix. Also, if a stereo reverb has been used on the vocal track, the
reverb images will remain in the left and right channels even though the main vocal line has been removed. In most cases,
this will not present too much of a problem. If you.re going to sing along with the track after the vocal has been removed,
the listener is unlikely to notice such subtle nuances of the backing track. Remember that you can also play additional parts
while singing.
