NAVIGATION ENTER MENU
Sound Edit Pro
Press ESCAPE two times from the previous page, select the SOUND EDIT (PRO) menu with the cursor, then press ENTER.
This is a menu for really expert users, where all of the Genesys xp synthesys parameters are available and all sounds can be
modified or completely redesigned. This is the sound pro edit main page.
LAYER
is the single sound unit
TERMS
A layer can be activated (L) and
muted (M) by toggling between the
L
and
M
status with the corresponding
function buttons (A1, B2, C3). Muting
a layer can be useful if you want to
hear only the layer you are currently
editing without listening to the others.
Up to three layers can be combined
to form a single sound. Since the
process required to edit each layer
is exactly the same, this section
concentrates only on editing a single
layer. Creating multilayer sounds is
rather simple once you know how to
edit a single layer.
Layers can be of different types: single
waveform or dual waveform. Each
layer is elaborated by an associated
“Algorithm” of synthesis. An Algorithm is
the “signal path” of a sample to the audio
outputs, through a series of processing
functions that you select during the course
of the editing tasks. The processing
functions which you assign during the
various editing stages are the synthesis
tools (oscillators, filters, amplitude
envelopes, etc.). While you cannot
change the path of an algorithm, you
can choose from a selection of 6 different
algorithms, each representing a fixed
signal path, and assign a wide variety of
processing functions to individual stages
of the algorithm’s path.

of a sample
WAVEFORM
Select the waveform menu then press
ENTER.
Select the way the wavetable
is read into memory
Forward
Reads the wave from the
start point to the end
Reverse
Reads the wave from
end to start point
Alternate 1
Reads the wave from
start point to the end,
loops back to the
beginning and repeats
continually
Alternate 2
A variation of Alternate 1
WAVE VECTOR
Waveform is the basic sample of the
sound, Here you can select the basic
waveform of the Sound, choosing
from the internal Waveform library,
from the Waveforms memorized with
a disk-based Ram Sounds, or one cre-
ated with the Sample editor.
WAVEFORM
Assigns the Waveform to a specific note of
the keyboard. Assignable values: Normal,
A0…C8. Normal transposes the wave
according to the note played. Assigning a
note (A0…C8) fixes the Wave to the same
note across the entire keyboard.
TUNING MODE
Shifts the Waveform in semitones.
Values range: from –64 to +64. 0
corresponds to standard pitch.
TRANPOSE:
Fine tunes the Wave’s pitch in steps of
1/64th of a semitone. Values range: –64
+64. 0 corresponds to standard pitch.
FINE PITCH
The Pitch of the Sound can be varied
by applying pressure on the notes of
the keyboard after key on.
PITCH TOUCH SENSITIVITY
Represents the actual (default)
starting point of the wave sample in
the instrument’s memory. Use this
parameter to determine the point at
which the sample will start its playback.
WAVESTART
Selects the mode in which the
Wavestart parameter is linked to key
velocity.
WV START DYN MODE
Disable
not linked to key velocity.
Switch
either the entire Wave, or the
part of the Wave following the
programmed Wave Start is
read above or below a certain
key velocity setting.
Floating
fluctuates the Wave Start
according to the key velocity.
Selects a scale (temperament).
Assignable values: 0, 1, 2
Value 0
Corresponds to Equal
temperament;
Value 1
Corresponds to 1/4 tone
difference between each
note;
Value 2
Corresponds to a
1/16 tone difference
between each note.
