CHAPTER 4
Getting Started
Chapter Scope
This chapter gives some useful tips when using a board from ASLP11 family
the first time. It might be also useful to read this chapter carefully, when
problems came up in using the ASLP11.
Power Supply
The ASLP11 board requires up to 70 Watts from the power supply. For exact
values please check the section specification or the actual datasheet, but for
rough data a current of up to 6A at the 12 V rail and 0.1 A at the 3.3 V
management power rail must be taken into consideration. If you ever see the
board not starting well or doing resets at random states, please check the
voltage of the supply voltages at the AMC slot. When measuring there, you can
use a standard digital multimeter and you have to attach it to the positions
where no high current is flowing.
The +12 V should reach their nominal value when measuring with a
multimeter. If the voltage is less than 10.8 V then short voltage drops while the
CPU or memory gets into high activities may result in resetting the ASLP11
board.
Status indicator, Postcode and Beeps
The ASLP11 family has 3 color LEDs at the front panel for a quick status
indicator usage. There is a blue Hot Swap LED (HS), a green Status LED (‘in
Service’) and a bicolor LED (when red used as ‘Fault’). Its possible colors are
red, orange or green and the LEDs can blink in different frequencies or be on
continuously.
The blue Hot Swap LED (HS) is required and used according to the AMC.0
specification.
