MULTINET4 MULTI-PORT SERIAL SERVER & MANAGED SWITCH – INSTRUCTION MANUAL
SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION
CHAPTER 4: SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION
4.4.1.5 Ports: Mirroring
This screen enables you configure Ethernet port mirrors. Port mirroring forwards a copy of
each incoming and outgoing packet from one port of a Multinet4 to another port on the
Multinet4, where the traffic can be monitored and/or analyzed.
FIGURE 4–32: Ethernet: Ports: Mirroring
The table below describes the parameters that can be viewed and edited in the Ports:
Mirroring screen.
Filtered:
The total number of valid frames received that are not
forwarded to a destination port.
Discards:
The total number of valid frames that were discarded due to
lack of buffer space.
Collisions:
The total number of collisions on this Ethernet segment.
Excessive:
The total number of frames not transmitted because the frame
experienced too many transmission attempts and was
discarded.
Single:
The total number of successfully transmitted frames that
experienced exactly one collision.
Multiple:
The total number of successfully transmitted frames that
experienced more than one collision.
Late:
The total number of times a collision is detected later than 512
bit-times into the transmission of a frame.
Deferred:
The total number of successfully transmitted frames that are
delayed because the medium was busy during the first
attempt.
