3.3.1
Operator maintenance
This schedule lists the recommended times for regular maintenance. Always follow hospital and
local regulations for required frequency of regular maintenance.
Every week
Clean and disinfect the Lullaby
TM
Warmer as required, or before a new patient is admitted.
3.3.2
Service maintenance
This schedule lists the minimum frequencies. Always follow hospital and local regulations for
required frequencies.
Annually
Perform the electrical safety checks annually or when equipment is serviced or follow hospital and
local regulations for required frequency of regular maintenance.
Electrical Safety Tests
Use an approved electrical safety analyzer to test the unit’s ground continuity and leakage
current. For reliable leakage current readings, the ground resistance check should be performed
first. Follow the servicing instructions supplied by the manufacturer of the electrical safety
analyzer to verify the following:
Ground Resistance Check
Measure the resistance between the ground pin, on the line cord plug, and exposed metal of
the electronic enclosure. The ground resistance must be less than 0.2 ohms.
Note: Not all metal components are safety ground bonded. Only the heater reflector, heater duct,
and center pillar are required to be safety ground bonded. When servicing involves disturbing
the ground bonds of these components, the ground integrity should be verified.
Earth Leakage and Chassis Leakage Current
For 220—230—240 V AC rated devices:
In normal condition and in all possible operating modes the earth leakage current shall be less
than 500 microamperes.
If required by local ordinances, in single fault condition and in all possible operating modes the
earth leakage current shall be less than 1000 microamperes.
Patient Lead Leakage Current
For AC lead leakage current:
In normal condition in all possible operating modes the patient lead leakage current shall be
less than 100 microamperes.
If required by local ordinances, in single fault condition in all possible operating modes the
patient leakage current shall be less than 500 microamperes.
NOTE: The isolation of the patient temperature probe is dependent upon the insulation of the baby
temperature probe. These probes are 100% tested and do not require retesting. If desired, the
patient temperature probe can be tested by wrapping it in foil or submerging 6 inches (15 cm)
of the part of the probe that attaches to the patient in normal saline. Measurements shall be
taken from the conducting medium. The patient lead leakage current limits listed above are
applicable.

These guidelines are designed to complement and do not replace hospital infection
control policies.
