Appendix B. Using the Clamping Fixtures

From the other mark on the top of the pipe, measure around the pipe in the opposite direction a
distance equal to 1/4 of the pipe circumference, or the same distance used in Step 5. Use the center
punch to make a mark at this point.

On one of the MCF sub-assemblies, position the adjustable transducer block anywhere along the rods,
being sure to leave enough room on both sides to easily insert the transducer. To move the block,
loosen the red thumbscrews, slide the block to the desired location and tighten the thumbscrews. Use
the pressure bolt and the scale on the rod to position the block at the desired location. Repeat the
procedure for the other sub-assembly.

Center the transducer block of one sub-assembly over one of the center punch marks on the side of
the pipe. Align the block so that the pressure bolt is directly over the punch mark.
