Install the SNMP Agent (“To install the SNMP Agent:” on page 102)
For each computer running Windows 2000 you must:

Install SNMP Service (“To install SNMP Service in Windows 2000:” on
page 99)
■
Install WBEM (“To install WBEM in Windows 2000:” on page 100)
■
Install the SNMP Agent (“To install the SNMP Agent:” on page 102)
One computer must have ManageX Event Manager installed and configured
as well as the SNMP service and either WMI (Windows NT) or WBEM
(Windows 2000). You can use this computer to monitor all of the computers
on the network. If you install ManageX Event Manager, install it before you
install the SNMP Agent. To install and configure ManageX Event Manager:

To install SNMP service in Windows NT:

Click
Start
, then select
Settings
, then
Control Panel
.

Double-click the
Network
icon. The Network dialog box appears.

On the Services tab, click
Add
, select
SNMP Service
, then click
OK
.

Insert the Windows NT CD into the CD drive. The files needed are in
the
i386
directory on the Windows NT CD. The wizard installs SNMP
service.

In the SNMP Properties, click the
Traps
tab.

In the Community Name text box, type the community name that you
want to use, then click
Add to List
.

Under Trap Destinations, click
Add
, then type the host name or IP address
of the computer running ManageX into the
Host name, IP or IPX address
text box.
Important You must install all applicable service packs after installing
any software.
