Appendix A – Module Adapters for

the DS-64NC Module

This appendix covers the ten module adapters compatible with the DS-64NC module:

MA-412/MA-412A (RS-449 DCE)

MA-413/MA-413B (V.35 DCE)

MA-414 (RS-449 DTE)

●

MA-415 (V.35 DTE)

●

MA-420 (X.21)

●

MA-421 (X.21)

●

MA-427 (LAN Bridge)

●

MA-428 (Enhanced LAN Bridge

The first six module adapters provide a 37-pin connector for the data signal. The MA-420 and MA-421

module adapters provide X.21 and external timing connectivity. The MA-427 and MA-428 module

adapter provide a high performance, remote, self-learning Ethernet bridge. The MA-428 module

adapter provides additional features, such as auto-negotiation or user-defined fixed operation.

Note: Verify that the module adapter shipped is the correct one for your needs before installing the

DS-64NC module.

A.1 37-pin Connector Module Adapters (MA-412, 412A, 413,

413B, 4-14 and 415)

These six module adapters (MAs) provide a 37-pin connector for the data signal (a DB-37S jack on the

DCE models, and a DB-37P plug on the DTE models), and an RJ-11 jack for timing output (Figures A-1

and A-2). The timing output may be applied to the multiplexer common module timing input to

synchronize the system timing to that of the receive clock signal on the DS-64NC module. Figures A-3

through A-6 show cable connections for the data connectors on these six MAs.
