P1 represents the starting time slot selection. In only this P code, the decimal number is easier to use;
simply issue a command in the form
<MULTIPLEXER ADDRESS>:<CARD ADDRESS>:SET:P1 =
N
;
where N is the decimal value of the desired starting time slot (1 to 24 in T1-based systems; 0 to 31 in
2 MB-based systems).
IMPORTANT: The letter “B” must precede binary numbers used with a SET command, such as
<MULTIPLEXER ADDRESS>:<CARD ADDRESS>:SET:P2 = B00000011;
In addition to using P codes, you can also turn service for the module on or off by sending
SRVC = ON
or
SRVC = OFF
in the parameter field of a SET command.
Table 2-10 lists definitions for all the P codes for this module.

TIMESLOT
0 to 31
Only in this P code is the decimal number used, which selects the
desired starting time slot (1 to 24 in a T1-based system, 0 to 31
in a 2 MB-based system).

E1
0
Set the module for use in a T1-based multiplexer (1.544 MHz
bus clock).
1
Set the module for use in an E1 (2 MB-based) multiplexer
(2.048 MHz bus clock).
B00000000

CAS
0
When the module is installed in a T1-based multiplexer, this
setting is the required setting. In a 2 MB-based multiplexer, this
setting frees time slot 16 for payload use.
1
In a 2 MB multiplexer ONLY: reserves time slot 16 for CAS
multiframe signaling.

TERM
0
This setting may be used when the module is in a drop and
insert multiplexer.**
1
This setting is required in a terminal multiplexer.

DATA RATE
(least significant bits)
Set the eight least significant digits of the binary value for the
desired data rate, divided by 2000. (From left to right, these
digits correspond to S4, positions 3 - 10; Section 2.7.6.)
* These values are the only legal ones for setting the parameters. Any parameter set to a value
outside its specified range produces an unpredictable result.
** If you use the DS-64NC module in a terminal multiplexer, this bit should always be set to 1. If you
use the module in a drop and insert multiplexer, set this bit to 1 to transmit in the A direction and
receive from the B direction. Set it to 0 to transmit in the B direction and receive from the A
direction.
