FLUSHING THE COFFEE BREWER FOR FIRST TIME USE
For first use and after a longer period of storage, we recommend flushing the cof-
fee brewer to remove any dust particles or residue from the manufacturing process.
1. Ensure to completely fill the water tank. See above: ›Filling the Water Tank‹.
2.
Select
‘AMOUNT
12’.
Press the CUP | CARAFE button. The LCD screen will display a Carafe symbol
and the current number of cups selected. Rotate the CUP | CARAFE dial to select
12 cups. If the level in the water tank is not sufficient for 12 cups, the LCD will
display 'FILL TANK' and the water tank symbol will flash.
3. Select the ‘PRE-GROUND’ coffee setting.
Rotate the STRENGTH dial to the ‘PRE-GROUND’ coffee setting. This will disable
the grinder. However do not add any coffee to the coffee basket.
4. Insert the carafe on position in the coffee brewer.
5. Press the START | CANCEL button to start the brew cycle.
6. Once the cycle is complete, discard the water from the carafe and repeat the
cycle again for best results.
Thereafter, the coffee brewer is ready for use.
STARTING THE BREWING PROCESS
WARNING:
Do not attempt to open the swing-out door during a brewing cycle
to avoid scalds and damage due to hot water and steam.
Important:
Never pour water into the bean hopper or grinding chamber area. Doing so can
cause the grinder to clog. Always ensure that the grinding chamber and grinding
burrs are completely dry before operation. Do not attempt to operate the coffee
brewer with the water tank empty to avoid overheating.
Note:
Before each use, check the filling level of the water tank via the water level indi-
cator on the LCD screen. Fill the water tank with cold, fresh, filtered tap water or
bottled table water with low mineral content (see: ›Filling the Water Tank‹). Do not
use mineral water, or de-mineralised or distilled water or other liquids.
