NSERTION AND REMOVAL WITH
UPS

Since UPSs can be inserted and removed when on, it is not necessary to switch off the whole system to add or remove a unit,
thus improving service and reliability.
Hot-plug insertion and removal is only applicable for UPS systems with the following characteristics:
 The UPS system must already be equipped with a distribution panel (for power connections)
 All UPSs in the system must have the same firmware version.
For safety reasons it is necessary to electrically isolate the UPS prior to working on the parallel card.
EXAMPLE OF HOT-PLUG INSERTION ( 2 UPS + 1 )

Existing connection.

Keep UPS 3 switched off.
Before inserting the parallel
card, switch SW2 lever 3 to
ON. Remove parallel cable
from UPS 2 OUT connector
(replace with another of
appropriate length if
necessary) and insert it in
UPS 3 OUT connector.
Check that SW1 is in the
start position only on the
first UPS.
Complete connection with
another parallel cable
between UPS 2 OUT
connector and UPS 3 IN
connector. Close (SWIN,
SWOUT, SWBATT), switch
on UPS 3 and wait until it
starts supplying power.
