Completing the maintenance task

5.2.1

Updating or recovering the system board BIOS and
iRMC

After replacing the system board, it is essential to upgrade the BIOS and iRMC
to the latest version. The latest BIOS and iRMC versions are available from the
Fujitsu support internet pages at:

http://www.fujitsu.com/jp/products/computing/servers/primergy/downloads/

Fujitsu does not assume responsibility for any damage done to the
server or for the loss of any data resulting from BIOS updates.

Updating or recovering the system board BIOS

Flash BIOS update

I

For Japan, follow the instructions provided separately.

For Fujitsu PRIMERGY Servers you have basically the choice to select between
online flash and offline flash:

Online flash update:

Flash BIOS update is processed while operating system is running. The system
is accessible via network, and Flash BIOS update might be controlled online by
administrator.

Offline flash update:

Flash BIOS update is processed while system is shutdown. Physically presence
might be required to perform Flash BIOS update using an additional booting
device like USB stick. The system is not accessible via network, it is offline.

To perform a Flash BIOS update (online or offline) you must first download the
necessary files from the internet.
