Hard disk's energy saving function
If the hard disk is not accessed for a predefined period of time, its motor switches off automatically.
It will automatically switch on again when the hard disk is next accessed.
Activating
In the
BIOS Setup
menu
set the
Power Setup - Power Savings
field to
Customize
and set the time
which has to elapse before the motor of the hard disk switches off in the
Hard Disk Timeout
field.

In the
BIOS Setup
menu set the
Power Setup - Power Savings
field to
Maximum Performance
or
Maximum Power Savings.

You can also adjust the volume of the loudspeaker by using the audio program (e.g. mixer) or using
the audio functions in an application program.
Changing display settings
You configure the basic display settings in the
BIOS Setup
menu
Main
(see manual "BIOS Setup").
Switching between internal and external screen
You can opt to use:
•
just the notebook's internal display
•
just the external display
•
both the internal and the external display.
•
just the television
After the notebook is switched on, the setting in the
BIOS setup
of the
Advanced Setup - System
Configuration Menu - Display Device
field becomes effective.
If an external monitor is connected, you can switch over the screen output with the
+
key
combination.
Press the key combination

until you find the display option you require.
