IMPROVING ACCURACY
Depending on the channel profile geometry at the monitoring site, it can be recommended to use
multiple surface velocity sensors above the river channel. Consider the example at Figure 6-3 with
the main channel and side flooding areas.
Depending on the water level, the ratio between the surface velocity at the center of the channel
and the average velocity can greatly differ. For improved accuracy under such conditions, it is
recommended to use single water level measurement in combination with multiple surface velocity
measurements:
