6.3 Errors Opening the User Interface
If an error message is returned when you open the user inter-
face, please work through the following checklist:
z
Make sure that all cable connections are plugged in se-
curely.
z
Check the IP settings on the computers connected to
FRITZ!Box Fon ata. The computers must obtain their IP
address from FRITZ!Box Fon ata automatically (see “Set-
ting the IP Address” from page 43).
z
If FRITZ!Box Fon ata is connected to a DSL or cable mo-
dem, enter one of the following addresses rather than
“fritz.fonata.box” in the Internet browser:

192.168.178.1
–
192.168.179.1
z
If FRITZ!Box Fon ata is connected to a router, FRITZ!Box
Fon ata obtains its IP address from the router. Proceed
as follows:

See the user interface of the router to find out
FRITZ!Box Fon ata’s IP address.

Enter this IP address in the Internet browser on the
computer you would like to use to open the
FRITZ!Box Fon ata user interface.
