Sideguard Assist is only an aid. It may fail to
detect some objects and is not a substitute for
attentive driving. Always ensure that there is
sufficient distance to the side for other road
users, pedestrians and obstacles.
Make sure that the area on the co-driver's side
beside the vehicle is free before making a turn.
Monitoring range of the sensors
Monitoring range of the sensors
Between the vehicle and the monitoring range
there is an angle of approximately 6°. Objects
within this range are not detected.
Due to the nature of the system:
R
warnings may be issued in error when driv-
ing close to crash barriers or similar solid
boundaries
R
warnings may be interrupted when you are
driving alongside particularly long vehicles,
such as trucks, for a prolonged time
Depending on the situation, Sideguard Assist
may:
R
issue a warning prematurely
R
not issue a warning
Make sure that the radar sensor cover is free
from dirt, ice or slush. The radar sensors must
not be painted or covered, e.g. by stickers or
films.
If Sideguard Assist is malfunctioning, the on-
board computer displays a yellow event win-
dow.
Objects in the monitoring range are then not
indicated.
Have the function of the radar sensors
checked at a qualified specialist workshop fol-
lowing:
R
a severe impact
R
damage to the side trim
Sideguard Assist may otherwise not work
properly.
