Easy Deep-Dish Pizza
Using refrigerated French loaf dough makes this deep-dish pizza easy to prepare.
1 pound bulk sweet Italian sausage
1 small onion, chopped (1/4 cup)
1 can (8 ounces) pizza sauce
1 can (11 ounces) refrigerated crusty French loaf dough
2 cups shredded Italian cheese blend (8 ounces)
1 package (3 ounces) sliced pepperoni
1 egg
1 tablespoon water
Additional pizza sauce, if desired
1. Heat oven to 350°F. Turn Function dial to Bake. Place roasting rack on middle position
in oven. Spray glass pie plate, 9x1
1/
4
inches, with cooking spray. Cook sausage and onion
in 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat 5 to 7 minutes, stirring frequently, until sausage is
no longer pink; drain. Stir in 8-ounce can of pizza sauce until well mixed.
2. Carefully unroll dough. Place in pie plate so edge extends over side of plate. Pat dough in
bottom and up side of plate, leaving dough extended over side. Spoon sausage mixture
into dough. Top with half of the cheese, the pepperoni and remaining cheese.
3. Slightly beat egg and water in small bowl. Fold extended edge of dough up and over filling;
seal all edges. Brush dough with egg mixture. Bake on rack 20 minutes; cover with alumi-
num foil. Bake 18 to 20 minutes longer or until deep golden brown. Cool 15 minutes. To
serve, cut into wedges. Serve with additional pizza sauce. 8 servings.
