Please read these safety instructions carefully before
Project planning FP S-ENGuards of the W640 /W667 model series, installing
and starting up a device or performing maintenance work and tests.
Make sure that you have understood all instructions.
Intended use
FP S-ENGuard devices are gateways, i.e. remote communication computers.
Possible applications are remote maintenance, reporting of faults, data logging or the
use as an internal web server.

Use FP S-ENGuard only for applications that comply with the device specification.
Observe the specified characteristics.

When project planning, installing, starting up, maintaining and testing the device,
observe the safety and accident prevention regulations applicable for the specific
application and location.

Operate the FP S-ENGuard only as described in these instructions and the configu-
ration manual.

Do not carry out any unauthorised interventions in the hardware and software.
Basic instructions for safe use
Danger! Do not use the FP S-ENGuard in a potentially explosive environment
Sparks can cause explosion and fire.

Do not use the device in a potentially explosive environment or in the vicinity of
flammable gases, vapours, dust or conductive dusts.
Avoiding danger from electrical voltage

Operate the device only with an electrical system that meets the following require-
ments:
– Fuse protection with a circuit breaker of type max. 10 A, characteristic B,
switching capacity 6 kA.
– Disconnecting device two-pole (L, N), with a minimum contact distance of 3 mm.

Make sure that the device is connected to the mains-side protective conductor.
Avoid potential hazards due to unsuitable environmental conditions

Only use the device in enclosed and clean spaces.

Avoid harmful environmental conditions such as heat, sunlight, strong shocks and
vibrations.
