1. General
KPS: Multiple heat source cylinder for combining several heating systems, such as solid fuel,
pellet, oil or gas boiler with water heating carried out in the enamelled internal vessel, which
includes a magnesium anode to DIN 4753/T.3. Additional solar heating is possible via a separate
coiled heater exchanger. Height adjustable feet included as standard.
DUO-FWS/FWP: Multiple heat source tank for combining several heating systems, such as solid
fuel, pellet, oil or gas boiler and thermal pumps. With a large stainless steel corrugated pipe heat
exchanger for heating mains water mainly in the fl ow. Additional solar heating is with DUO-FWS
possible via a separate coiled pipe. Height adjustable feet included as standard.

Thermal insulation: there are 2 variants available for thermal insulation. Variant 1 consists of PUR
soft foam with a foil cladding, variant 2 consists of PUR soft foam or polyester fi bre with a
polystyrene outer skin (see also point 4).
2. Installing and operating the cylinder
Read these instructions carefully before commencing installation. Should you have any queries,
please contact our customer service department (see Contact details).
Installation, commissioning and maintenance should be carried out by qualifi ed specialist staff in
accordance with the relevant standard (including EN 1717, DIN 1988, EN 12828, VDI 2035, and the
regulations of the local provider).
Installation may only take place in rooms free from frost and on a substrate that has suffi cient load
bearing capacity for the tank when it is fi lled to capacity. Suffi cient space should be allowed for
future installation and to service the system etc. Refer to point 4 when installing the thermal
insulation.
For versions intended for retrospective assembly (specially labelled), the water-side
installation can take place before installing the insulation.
Do not exceed the permitted operating conditions. Various pressure chambers have to be secured
separately and their nominal capacities taken into account when selecting the size of the
expansion tank. Each of the safety valves should be installed so that they are easily accessible to
be able to make regular checks and to fi t them with drain connections.
The tank(s) should be connected and equipped in such a way that no air pockets can form inside
them and that no vacuum is created. Please allow for separate drains.
The outer water tank should always be fi lled fi rst followed by the buffer tank. Draining should be
carried out in reverse, and the buffer tank de-pressurised.
ATTENTION: Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the mains water
cylinder or the stainless steel corrugated pipe!
Make a separate drain from the DUO-FWS/FWP cold water inlet.
Cold and hot water connection of the KPS can be changed by replacing the internal plastic pipe.
To permit drain from the outer water tank, a T-piece should be installed in the cold water pipe with
a connection pipe and a drain valve (height: approx. RL solar coiled pipe). A vent valve should be
installed in the hot water supply outlet. The cold and hot water side of the mains water tank
should be closed off when draining. The drain and venting valve can then be opened
consecutively. The valves should be re-closed once draining is complete.
The occurrence of pressure shocks in the portable water installation of the DUO FWS/FWP
and KPS is to be avoided!
To this end, we recommend taking action such as installing an Airfi x membrane expansion vessel
in conjunction with a pressure reducer (follow separate assembly instructions).
A plate bearing the following legend must be affi xed close to the safety valve blow-off pipe or on
the safety valve itself as appropriate:
ATTENTION: For safety reasons, it may be necessary for water to escape from the blow-off
pipe while the system is heating up. Do not shut off or obstruct the blow-off pipe.
A thermostatic mixer can be installed as scald protection on the hot water outlet.
The KPS has a separate circulation connection.
For smaller circulation volumes, a corresponding set (accessories) must be installed on the
DUO-FWS/FWP or for larger volumes the circulation must be fed into the cold water inlet.
Temperature regulation/display: It is possible to position the sensors individually via the sensor
terminal block, although it is important to follow the heat generator's requirements or higher-level
control. The particular contours of the insulation may make it necessary to install the sensors on
the water supply side or move them there. To display the temperature the insulation with the
polystyrene coating of the DUO-FWS/FWP has special thermometer holding fi xtures in the hook
terminals.
The attached operating instructions must be followed when using an external current anode in
the KPS.
Any connections not used must be professionally sealed. Make sure that condensation, which
could cause damage, cannot build up in unused coiled pipes.
The entire system must be thoroughly fl ushed before commissioning. It must be checked for
tightness under operating conditions and as part of maintenance.
The relevant instructions apply to accessories (e.g. electrical heating).
The type plate should be stuck to the insulation so that it is easily visible.
