Programming Device Addresses Using the
Programmer
As an alternative to the procedure of Auto-addressing
the Installer can use the service tool FC490ST to ad-
dress the devices on Loop.
1.
Connect your detector to the programmer. If you
need to program a sounder or a module, con-
nect the programming lead into the AUX port of
the programmer and the other end of the lead into
the device‘s programming port
Note you cannot address a detector while the pro-
gramming lead is plugged in.
2.
Press and hold F1 to switch the programmer on.
3.
When prompted, enter the password: F1, F2, F1,
F2, F3, F4.
4.
Press F2 to enter the address program, this will
show the current address of the device on the
screen (brand new devices will always be 255).
5.
Press F2 to choose the “write” menu option.
6.
Using F3 and F4, change the address to the
required address.
7.
When the correct address is displayed, press F2
to write.
8.
The programmer will display the message: “pro-
grammed ok” and then it will show the next ad-
dress.
9.
Label the device ready for installing.

Notes
"Unique" in the time field indicates that it is the only device of its type on the
loop. For example if only one FC410DDM module is used in the system, it is
tagged as "Unique" so it is not necessary to activate it, the installer knows
where it is.
"Active" in the time field indicates that the relevant device is active, it is
applicable ONLY to output device types such as sounders, beacons and SNM
modules.
When the installer, scanning the list of previously auto-addressed devices,
reaches an output-only device type, this device becomes active (a sounder
starts to sound, a beacon starts to flash, an output module illuminates its
LED) until a new device is selected or the permanent address is entered. In
this way it will be possible to locate where the device is.
