5 - USING THE LIFT

5.1 Before Placing the Lift

in Service

1. Personnel who will work with the lift need to read

this manual.

2. Assemble the lift, following the instructions in

Assembling the Lift

, pages 7-8.

3. Confirm that the lift operates properly. Follow

the instructions in

Inspecting the Lift

, page 20.

5.3 General Guidelines for Use

Operating the lift requires one trained operator.
Additional help may be needed when working
with heavy loads or under certain circumstances.
See

Using Additional Help

, page 16.

Follow standard mortuary-service procedures
when operating the lift.

Stay with the lift at all times when it is
carrying a load.

Always use all four straps to secure the body or
casket.

Always use the pushbar handles to roll the lift.

Charge the battery whenever the lift is not in use.
Keeping the battery charged extends battery life.

Use, assemble and disassemble the lift only with
both legs extended and locked.

Important

Always use all four straps to secure a body
or casket.

Improper operation can cause injury.
Operate the lift only as described in this
manual.

WARNING

!

Stay with the lift at all times when it is
carrying a load. Never leave the lift
unattended when it is carrying a body or
casket.

WARNING

!

Using the Lift

5.2 Before First Use

Before using the lift for the first time, charge the battery.
See

Charging the Battery,

 page 18, and charge the

battery for approximately 10 hours.

After the initial charge, the battery recharges more
quickly. If the low-charge alarm sounds, the battery will
require charging for about 4 hours.

Important

Charge the battery for 10 hours before first
use. After the initial charge, typical time to
recharge the battery is 4 hours.

Important

Keep the battery charged to extend battery
life. Do not completely discharge the
battery. Charge the battery whenever the
lift is not in use.
