8 MAINTENANCE
IMPORTANT: Faster recommend to perform the standard tests and maintenance once per year by
specially trained and authorized service personnel according to the standards, in order
to ensure the efficiency and safety of the (microbiological safety/laminar flow/cytotoxic
safety/chemical fume hood) isolator.
8.A INSTRUCTIONS FOR DAILY CLEANING OF ISOLATORS (by users)
DO NOT use chlorine based cleaning agents. These are very corrosive with stainless steel
DO NOT leave any surface in a wet state with whatever cleaning agent is used. Always make sure
that all surfaces are dry after cleaning.
ALWAYS dispose of all cloths as contaminated waste.
AFTER EACH CAMPAIGN:
The stainless steel worktray and all reachable areas should be swabbed with 70% IMS on sterilised cloths
(i.e., 70% IMS or IPA OR suitable detergents).
Note: The worktray can be raised up tilting it to the internal back wall if necessary.
Transfer Chambers should be swabbed in the same manner. Note: The trays may be removed by sliding
them completely out of the grooves
EVERY WEEK:
The outer surfaces of the unit should be cleaned with 70% IMS on sterilised cloths (i.e., 70% IMS or IPA or
suitable detergents).
CLEANING IN COINCIDENCE WITH SERVICE:
To coincide with servicing intervals, the unit should be cleaned as follows:
1)
Switch the fans off, wait for the chamber pressure to return to ambient. Remove and discard gloves
(and sleeves if damaged) using the correct procedure.
2)
Open the visor unscrewing the securing black screws. Allow the front panel to rise to its full height and
rest on the gas struts.
3)
Wear gloves and a plastic apron. Tilt the stainless steel work tray into upright position. Using moistened
cloths, remove any dried on deposits.
4)
Swab the rest of the chamber with 70% IMS on sterile cloths. Ensure that all parts of the chamber are
swabbed, including the lighting pod panel.
5)
Close the front visor and re-secure screws.
6)
If replaced, fit new gloves and sleeves
7)
Using a stepladder (in order to reach), wipe the recess at the top of the isolator with a damp cloth.
