16 Cleaning and Disinfection
This chapter instructs/-explains the user/patient on how to keep
the Nebufirst
®
inhalation device and its accessories in a fully
functional and good hygienic condition.
Risk of infection due to viruses, bacteria and germs;
infections can transmitt serious illnesses.
After each inhalation therapy, the device must be
cleaned and disinfected in order to minimise these
risks of infection.
All parts which were in direct contact with either the medication or
the patient's body must be cleaned and disinfected thoroughly
immediately after the inhalation therapy. For the cleaning
process, the nebuliser needs to be disassembled into its single
components.
The air compressor (1) should be cleaned / disinfected on the
exterior by use of a soft, clean cloth. After cleaning/disinfection,
all components must be dried thoroughly. Any humidity remaining
on the components increases the risk of germ development.
