Input and output cards — The slots numbered 2 through 15 on the rear panel
contain input and output cards. When you order the Quantum, you specify the
desired number and type of input cards and output cards. You receive the system
with all cards installed.
On the Quantum Elite models, replacement card kits are available to order. These
cards must be installed by a trained technician.
NOTE: The system must contain at least one input card and one output card.
Cards are installed in slots 15 through 2, from right to left, starting with slot 15, which
must contain an output card (see
Input card locations on page 26 and Output
card locations on page 39 for more information on card placement).

PS/2 keyboard card — Connect a PS/2 keyboard (provided with the unit) to the
mini DIN connector when you need to perform basic system setup or troubleshooting
using the Control Panel (see
Using the Control Panel on page 61).

Media I and Media II network, USB, and monitor ports
— On the Quantum
Elite 615, the following ports are contained on this card:
•
Media I and II network ports: These two 2 gigabit Ethernet (1000Base-T) ports
can be used to connect the Quantum Elite 615 to external local area networks
(LANs) or wide area networks (WANs) to access remote Quantum QGE 100
sources. Connect Category (CAT) 5 STP patch cables between these RJ-45
connectors and the network.
• USB ports: Connect optional USB storage devices to these USB type A ports to
enable loading of image files or software upgrades. A USB keyboard and mouse
also can be attached to these ports to provide access to the Control Panel. (A
USB mouse is provided with the unit.)
• Monitor port: Connect an optional monitor to this 15-pin VGA connector
to enable viewing of internal settings during basic setup, servicing, and fault
diagnostic procedures. This port is not used for normal operation.

Power connector
— Connect the supplied IEC power cord between this male IEC
connector and an AC power source. (A power switch on the front panel powers the
unit on and off.)
