Summit Family Switches Hardware Installation Guide

Front-Mounting the Switch in a Two-Post Rack

To front-mount the switch in a two-post rack:

Place the switch upright on a secure work surface.

Place a front mounting bracket over the mounting holes on one side of the unit, with the flange at
the front of the switch (

Figure 206

Insert and tighten seven screws to secure the bracket to the side of the switch.

Repeat steps 2 and 3 to attach the remaining front bracket to the other side of the switch.

Slide the switch into the rack until the mounting bracket flanges are against the rack posts
(

At each side, fasten the mounting bracket to the rack post using suitable screws.

After the switch is secured to the rack, install and connect power supplies as described on

page 265

for

AC power supplies or on

page 268

for DC power supplies.

NOTE

If you are installing a VIM2 module, install it in the switch before you connect the switch to power
