Chapter 5 – Recipe Setup

User Manual

Vortex

Precedence

Rev 3.6

Revolutions Mode Example 1:

Figure 5-6 illustrates how the upper tool

completes its rotations for the following

parameters.

Start Angle: 135 deg; Revolutions: 2; Final

Angle: 240 deg

Revolutions Mode Example 2:

Figure 5-7 illustrates how the upper tool

completes its rotations for the following

parameters.

Start Angle: 335 deg; Revolutions: 1; Final

Angle: 290 deg

2. Time

Beginning from the specified start angle the

upper tool will rotate for the specified amount

of time then quickly decelerate to a stop.

Weld Time

Specify the duration of the weld (rotation).

In the case of dynamic start, weld time

begins at the trigger position.

3. Distance 1, collapse

Beginning from the specified start angle, the

upper tool rotates until the part has collapsed

the specified distance and then quickly

decelerates to a stop.

Collapse

Specify the distance that the part is to

collapse. Note: the actual collapse distance

will be greater because of the welding that

continues during deceleration and additional

compression that may occur during cooling.

The amount is dependent on the part

diameter and joint design.

4. Distance 2, total

Beginning from the specified start angle, the

tool rotates until the total distance traveled by

the head from its fully retracted position is

equal to the specified total distance. Then the

tool quickly decelerates to a stop.
