Chapter 3 – Unpacking & Installation

User Manual

Vortex

Precedence

Rev 3.6

Refer to the diagram in Figure 3-1 for

the lower tool bolt pattern.

Place the lower tool on the lower tooling

plate.

Line up the dowel holes and insert

dowels where necessary.

Bolt the lower tool to the plate using M8

x 1.25mm SHCS.

Find a surface on the lower tool or on a

part loaded in the lower tool and repeat

the tool plate centering procedure on

this surface to verify that the lower tool

is centered with respect to the spindle.

If it is not centered, repeat the tool

plate centering procedure with the new

reference point. Note: plastic parts have

irregularities. More indicator movement

can be expected when using the actual

part as an indicator surface.

Upper Tool Mounting

Refer to the diagram in Figure 3-2 for

the upper tool bolt pattern.

Place the upper tool on the spindle

using the dowel for location.

Bolt the upper tool to the spindle using

M6 x 1mm SHCS. Note: If the spindle

moves while tightening the bolts, pull up

the E-Stop to allow the motor to hold

the spindle in position. Remove your

wrench before pulling up the E-Stop in

case the motor performs its homing

sequence.

WARNING

Remove all hand tools from the

machine before pulling up the E-

stop in case the motor moves

inadvertently.
