6.20 - How do I create a Microsoft Hyper-V VHDX file?
With OneBlox 2.12 and later, Microsoft Windows 2012 R2 and Hyper-V is supported. IT Admins
may create SMB shares though OneSystem and utilize them as VHDX files.
Important:
SMB shares for Hyper-V should be created with 1) variable-length reduplication enabled,
2) compression enabled, and 3) snapshots disabled. This is the same storage policy as ‘ backup/
recovery ’ . In an upcoming OneSystem release there will be a "virtual server" storage policy.
The ability for OneBlox to seamlessly scale-out storage capacity with zero configuration applies to
Hyper-V. When the OneBlox Ring capacity is increased, the Hyper-V VMs simply ‘ see ’ more storage
capacity. If IT admins want to limit the storage capacity for a given VM, they may do so by setting
the share level quotas.
