Additionally, admins can select 'custom' storage policy and select a different combination of
settings if desired.
NOTE:
For backup/recovery applications, all compression and deduplication should be disabled
within the backup software. OneBlox's inline deduplication and inline compression will yield
better data reduction ratios.
6.12 - Does OneBlox Deduplication work on a per share basis?
OneBlox deduplication works across all shares within a Ring. With the introduction of variable-
length deduplication, all information written to all shares that have variable-length dedupe
enabled will be treated as a single dedupe pool.
Similarly, all information written to shares and exports that have fixed-length deduplication
enabled will be deduplicated and be treated as another dedupe pool.
6.13 - Who has Access to the Information on OneBlox — Adding, Removing,
or Editing Users' Access to Storage
Users must have an account created in OneSystem by a user with Admin permissions before they
can access shares on the network with 'restricted' or 'registered user' access permissions.

This does not apply to OneBlox Rings that are authenticated with Active Directory.
