Flashing the BIOS Without a CPU
If your motherboard cannot boot, or you are unable to see picture on your display, and
other troubleshooting does not resolve your issue, you may need to flash the BIOS.
Similarly, if your new motherboard has an older BIOS version that does not have
support for your compatible Intel
®
CPU, you may need to flash the BIOS.
In order to flash the BIOS without picture or a CPU, you must follow these steps:
1.
Locate or prepare a USB disk formatted to FAT32. The USB disk included with
this motherboard is already formatted to FAT32.
2.
Download your intended BIOS from
3.
Unzip the file. Go into the extracted folder, and rename the .bin file to
EVGAZ799.bin. Move this file into the root of your USB disk.
4.
Turn off your system, then switch your power supply to the “Off” position.
5.
Plug the USB disk into the USB 2.0 to SPI header, seen in the
component legend on Page 14, component 30, or here:
6.
Connect the 24pin power cable from your power supply to
the motherboard.
7.
Flip your power supply switch to the “On” position
and hold down the “BIOS UPDATE” button, which
can be found on the Rear I/O Panel:
8.
Continue holding down the BIOS Update button for
approximately 2 seconds while the LED counts
down.
9.
When the flash begins, release the BIOS Update
button. The POST LED will cycle in a clockwise manner during the flash.
DO NOT TURN OFF THE MOTHERBOARD. IF THE MOTHERBOARD
IS TURNED OFF PRIOR TO COMPLETING THE FLASH PROCESS,
THE BIOS MAY BECOME IRREVERSIBLY DAMAGED.
