8.7.1.3 Setting and Testing Lower Limits
1:
Using the QTC-1 Field Service Kit, move the batten down until it is at the desired lower overtravel
limit.
2:
Turn the Lower Limit adjustment screw clockwise (which is moving the limit upward) until the
green (lower) and red (overtravel) limit switch LEDs illuminate.
3:
Turn the adjustment screw in the opposite (counterclockwise) position about 45° (1/8) turn, but
not so far that the LEDs turn off. The lower overtravel is now set, with the lower limit set
15 cm (6 in) above it.
4:
Press and hold the OVERTRAVEL OVERRIDE button on the Motor Control Box and then press the
blue up button on the QT1-C until both LEDs are unlit.
5:
To test the lower limit, press the green down button on the QT1-C until the lower limit (green
LED) is reached and the hoist stops.
6:
Press the blue up button on the QT1-C until the green LED is unlit again.
7:
To test the lower overtravel limit, press and hold the LOWER OVERRIDE button on the Motor
Control Box. At the same time, press the green down button on the QT1-C until the hoist has
travelled through the lower limit and is stopped at the lower overtravel limit.
8:
Press and hold the OVERTRAVEL OVERRIDE button on the Motor Control Box and then press the
blue up button on the QT1-C until the hoist has travelled back up past the lower limit and into
the normal operation range.
The remainder of system commissioning can only be done after the control system (QuickTouch,
Qui, QuickTouch Preset or Foundation) has been installed. Refer to the appropriate control
system configuration software and training materials for information on how to configure the rest of
the system.
WARNING:
Setting and testing limits is a procedure reserved for ETC trained/authorized
personnel only!
CAUTION:
The Overtravel limit should be no less than 15 cm (6 in) from the bottom of
the load to the top of the nearest point of conflict. This is the minimum
distance that should be between these parts to ensure proper operation and
stopping distance.
Note:
It is important to return the batten to its normal operating range before testing the
overtravel limit. Testing the overtravel limit with full momentum of the hoist is the
desired outcome of returning the batten to its normal operating range.
