8.7.1.2 Setting and Testing Upper Limits
1: Using the QTC-1 Field Service Kit, move the batten up until it is at the desired upper overtravel
limit.
2: Turn the Upper Limit adjustment screw counterclockwise (which is moving the limit downward)
until the blue (upper) and red (overtravel) limit switch LEDs illuminate.
3: Turn the adjustment screw in the opposite (clockwise) position about 45° (1/8) turn, but not so
far that the LEDs turn off. The upper overtravel is now set, with the upper limit set 15 cm (6 in)
below it.
4: Press and hold the OVERTRAVEL OVERRIDE button on the Motor Control Box and then press the
green down button on the QT1-C until both LEDs are unlit.
5: To test the upper limit, press the blue up button on the QT1-C until the upper limit (blue LED) is
reached and the hoist stops.
6: Press the green down button on the QT1-C until the blue LED is unlit again.
7: To test the upper overtravel limit, press and hold the UPPER OVERRIDE button on the Motor
Control Box. At the same time, press the blue up button on the QT1-C until the hoist has
travelled through the upper limit and is stopped at the upper overtravel limit.
8: Press and hold the OVERTRAVEL OVERRIDE button on the Motor Control Box and then press the
green down button on the QT1-C until the hoist has travelled back down past the upper limit and
into the normal operation range.
WARNING:
Setting and testing limits is a procedure reserved for ETC trained/authorized
personnel only!
CAUTION:
The Overtravel limit should be no less than 15 cm (6 in) from the bottom of
the loft block to the top of the attachment for the batten. This is the
minimum distance that should be between these parts to ensure proper
operation and stopping distance.
Note:
It is important to return the batten to its normal operating range before testing the
overtravel limit. Testing the overtravel limit with full momentum of the hoist is the
desired outcome of returning the batten to its normal operating range.
