CAN Troubleshooting Guide
7. Appendix CAN-CBX-CPU5201-PLC
This chapter describes the start-up, network configuration and LED display of the CAN-CBX-
CPU5201-PLC.
The following software is included in the scope of delivery of the CAN-CBX-CPU5201-PLC:
- Qesdcp configuration tool
- CODESYS 2.3 software with target-files and libraries
7.1 Start-up
To put the CAN-CBX-CPU5201 into operation, please follow the installation notes.
Step
Procedure
Read the safety instructions at the beginning of this document carefully, before
you start with the hardware installation!
Please note the chapters “Installation and Wiring of the Module” and “”“!
1.
Mount the CAN-CBX-CPU5201-PLC module and connect the interfaces (power
supply voltage, CAN, etc.).
2.
Please note that the CAN bus has to be terminated at both ends!
esd
offers special T-
connectors and termination connectors. Additionally the CAN_GND signal has to be
connected to earth at
exactly one
point in the CAN network. Refer to chapter “” (page
38) for further information.
A CAN participant with a CAN interface which is not electrically isolated corresponds
to the grounding of the CAN-GND.
3.
Connect the network interface with the LAN
Note:
The coding switches, the USB socket and the CAN interface on the In-Rail-Bus of the
CAN-CBX-CPU5201-PLC have no function.
4.
Connect the CAN-CBX-CPU5201-PLC to 24V power supply voltage
5.
The module starts and the LEDs 'C' and 'S' will turn on after approximately
30 seconds.
6.
Now the CAN-CBX-CPU5201-PLC is accessible in its default network configuration
(see page 49).
7.
Configure the network settings via ESDCP or a web-browser as described in chapter
"Configuration of the Network Settings" (see page 49).
8.
Configure the IP-Address under CODESYS
®
as described in chapter
"Configuration of the IP-Address with CODESYS" (see page 50).
