The power indicator lights up; then the computer performs
its power-on diagnostics, which are a series of checks to
make sure everything is working correctly. During
diagnostics, you see a message telling you to press
Del
to
run the SETUP program. Then the computer loads the
operating system.
You may want to run the SETUP program to adjust power
saving features or set a password.
See “Running SETUP” in Chapter 2 for instructions.
Turning Off the Computer
Whenever you turn off your system, follow these steps:
1. Save your data, exit any application programs, and exit or
shut down Windows. If you see a message, wait until it
says you can safely turn off your computer.
2. Check the hard disk and the diskette drive lights to make
sure they are not on. Don’t turn off the computer if these
lights are on; you could damage the drive or lose data.
3. Remove any diskette(s) from the diskette drive(s).
4. Press the POWER button to turn off the computer.
5. Turn off the monitor, printer, and any other peripheral
devices.
